The relevance of the research topic lies in the fact that the cities of the UK are important tourist destinations in the world, as well as the industrial centers of the UK. The purpose of the work is to identify the features of large cities in Great Britain. Work tasks: - describe the main differences between British cities and villages; - to study the features of large cities in the country. This topic has been studied by many experts, but there is practically no fundamental research on this topic.

In most countries, cities occupy an insignificant part of the territory, but at the same time perform the most important functions in the development of states and in solving existing socio-economic problems. Each of the largest cities in Great Britain differs in the national composition of the population, has its own history, characteristic geographical features. Each of them inherited frоm the past many features in legal systems, in the structure of local government, in the religion of the population and in the education system. The study described the largest cities in the UK, such as London, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Birmingham, Manchester, Sheffield, Oxford and Liverpool. It should be noted that many of these cities are famous for their ancient universities, where students frоm all over the world study. Campuses built for students are their main attractions. In addition, the British appreciate culture and art, which is why cities are rich in museums, galleries and theaters. Some cities are associated with sports, such as Liverpool and Manchester. Sports are developed in all cities, people love to play sports. The most important advantage of the UK cities is their rich history, which is reflected in the architecture. They contain Victorian buildings, as well as old temples and monasteries. Along with them, modern-style buildings have been built. The cities of Great Britain are the main attraction of the country in terms of tourism. Millions of tourists visit London, Edinburgh and other cities every year. The tourism sector in the country is highly developed. Summing up, we can recommend the country to develop new types of tourism as well, since the interest in cities among tourists may decrease, which will affect their economy.
